Bask on the sugary sands of Cumberland, Jekyll, Sea and St. Simons Islands; go sea kayaking; bike along island pathways; play golf and practice tennis; try turtle trekking and stargazing; relax at a spa or celebrate the sunset. Once the exclusive vacation retreat for the Carnegies, Cranes, Rockefellers, Morgans and Goulds, today the Golden Isles offer visitors more than 90 miles of pristine coastline and natural beauty plus the amenities offered by some of the world’s leading resorts, hotel properties and exclusive getaways. familytravelfiles.com

Just came back from the lodge at Little St. Simons Island and was very satisfied with our short, though fabulous, getaway. The whole island is part of the inn; there are no other properties or neighbors in the island that is about 10,000 acres in size. Full of beautiful trees, it has bike, horse and walking trails that run through the forests and a beautiful, peaceful beach. My husband and I absolutely felt in love with this special place and will strongly recommend it. We give it a 10!

Georgia's waterfront is limited to a stretch of about 100 miles between the South Carolina and Florida borders -- but oh, what a stretch it is! Some of the most beautiful beaches in the East are on the subtropical barrier islands that lie just off the mainland coast. The four islands known as the Golden Isles -- St. Simons Island, Sea Island, Little St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island -- are great vacation spots.

St. Simons Island is a great place to spend a day or more. You'll find many restaurants, little shops, a beautiful beach (East Beach), kayak tours.... Best of all was the concert under the lighthouse near the pier. The band is playing in a little white pavilion, while you are chilling in a chair or on a blanket, talking to your friends, enjoying food (you can bring whatever you want) and listening to the music. I can't imagine a better location than this to hear an open air concert. The lighthouse and the beautiful view over the ocean (sometimes with dolphins) and to Jekyll Island.... If you like to stay longer, there are plenty of other things to do around Brunswick and the Golden Isles (Sea Island, Little St. Simons Island, St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island).

Brunswick & The Golden Isles

Brunswick & The Golden Isles

Everything about the place is different: the architecture, the landscape, the food and the accent. Take a leisurely trip south to Brunswick and the Golden Isles, a string of lush subtropical barrier islands that lies just off the coast. Some are wildlife refuges but the developed islands of St. Simons Island, Sea Island and Jekyll Island are accessible via bridges and offer superb beaches, great golf, and a wide range of accommodations. Theses sandy shores are also the perfect spot to unfold your beach chair, gaze out at the blue Atlantic, and reflect on your journey through Georgia...
