Just came back from the lodge at Little St. Simons Island and was very satisfied with our short, though fabulous, getaway. The whole island is part of the inn; there are no other properties or neighbors in the island that is about 10,000 acres in size. Full of beautiful trees, it has bike, horse and walking trails that run through the forests and a beautiful, peaceful beach. My husband and I absolutely felt in love with this special place and will strongly recommend it. We give it a 10! TripAdvisor.com User

Georgia's waterfront is limited to a stretch of about 100 miles between the South Carolina and Florida borders -- but oh, what a stretch it is! Some of the most beautiful beaches in the East are on the subtropical barrier islands that lie just off the mainland coast. The four islands known as the Golden Isles -- St. Simons Island, Sea Island, Little St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island -- are great vacation spots. Foders.com

St. Simons Island is a great place to spend a day or more. You'll find many restaurants, little shops, a beautiful beach (East Beach), kayak tours....
Best of all was the concert under the lighthouse near the pier. The band is playing in a little white pavilion, while you are chilling in a chair or on a blanket, talking to your friends, enjoying food (you can bring whatever you want) and listening to the music.
I can't imagine a better location than this to hear an open air concert. The lighthouse and the beautiful view over the ocean (sometimes with dolphins) and to Jekyll Island....
If you like to stay longer, there are plenty of other things to do around Brunswick and the Golden Isles (Sea Island, Little St. Simons Island, St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island).

The Avenue of Oaks
From 1760 until the outbreak of the War Between the States, cotton and rice plantations flourished in this area. The Sea Island cotton grown on St. Simons Island became world-famous for its outstanding quality. One of the most prosperous plantations, Retreat Plantation, was located on the southern tip of St. Simons Island. Retreat was known, among other things for its grand “Avenue of Oaks” that now frames the entrance to The Lodge at Sea Island Golf Club, available to guests of the Lodge at Sea Island, guests of The Cloister, and Sea Island Club members. The Avenue of Oaks is Location 11 along the

The John Gilbert Nature Trail
Since 2000, the St. Simons Land Trust has permanently preserved 145 acres of land on St. Simons Island through donations, purchases, conservation easements and bargain sales. A gift from the Gilbert family, the preserve contains maritime forest with many ancient live oaks, transitioning to a tidal marsh community. With the help of volunteers and funding from the membership, the John Gilbert Nature Trail was built on the property in late 2006. The first public nature trail on the island, it meanders through woods, crossing bridges and wooden boardwalks, and ends at an overlook across a tranquil marsh.

The Marshes of Glynn
In the 1870s, Georgia poet Sidney Lanier was mesmerized by the lush marshland that separates the mainland from the barrier islands. More than 130 years later, his poem, “The Marshes of Glynn,” inspires the name that signifies Brunswick & The Golden Isles’ vast and expansive marshes. These vast marshes are a vast, living ecosystem providing nourishment, shelter and breeding grounds for a vast variety of plants, animals and birds. Visitors can observe the marsh from several locations, including Overlook Park and the Earth Day Nature Trail in Brunswick and the Jekyll Island Welcome Center along the Jekyll Island Causeway.
